The Garden’s Summer High School Internship is a seven-week program on Wednesdays-Fridays from 9am-4pm from June 1- July 15.
We are looking for students who will be 16 years or older by June 1, 2022 who currently attend a metro-Atlanta Title I school. The interns will be paid an hourly wage of $10/hr and also receive lunch, program supplies, shirts and transportation assistance.
Participants get to work alongside our Garden staff from various departments including outdoor horticulture, indoor horticulture, amphibian care team, and conservation team in the mornings; learning about our collections and actively caring for them in the process. Afternoons are devoted to college and career skills sessions that include financial planning, resume building, cooking classes, and public speaking to name a few.
In addition, students learn about plant career opportunities outside of the Garden and how to connect with plant based community service projects throughout the city. At the end of the internship, our interns will produce a personal project to share their acquired knowledge with their cohort, Garden staff, and possibly guests as well.
